Context Matters in Your Relationship With God
by Subomi Plumptre

Whenever I speak about God, there is context. It is the experience of a random, middle-aged African woman living in the western tip of the continent.
This means I am shaped and limited by cultural context and location. As God is dealing with me, He is also dealing with millions of other individuals around the world in their own unique circumstances.
That is the beauty of a relationship with God. It is boundlessly customizable. So, you must build your personal relationship with Him.
I recall when I stopped bothering about the “proper” ways to pray or worship and just came to God as I was – everything changed. Indeed, “His yoke is easy, and His burden is light.” Sometimes, I just sit with God and we do nothing at all – and that’s enough. He is enough.
As I walk with God, one thing becomes clearer: whatever God says He is, is exactly who He is – and who He will be.
It doesn’t matter whether I like it or even believe it. It simply is.
As God is dealing with you, He is also dealing with millions of other individuals around the world in their own unique circumstances.
