Separation of Business and Faith?

by Subomi Plumptre

I would like to tell you something about business and faith. God is kind, gracious and loving. He gives gifts freely. But he also has a plan for the world and for your life that he’s actively pursuing.

Money, power and influence are all tools of engagement on the earth. But in business, we are taught to never pick an ideological side; to be neutral; to separate church and state. That’s all well and good, but if you believe God is the source of your wealth, things are not as cut and dried. The children of darkness are never confused about where their loyalties lie and to whom they dedicate their income. Why then are the children of light conflicted?

Someday, God will put you in a position where you have to choose. He will test you – your loyalty to him or to your status, reputation and possessions.

Don’t fail this test even though God will not stop blessing you. His gifts are without repentance. He is not petty. But, he will take note of your betrayal and begin shopping for someone else to use. You will unwittingly delay his programme. Yes, God is limited by the availability of humans. Sometimes an entire programme is delayed as God waits for someone else to be born, grow up and pass his test of loyalty.

You shouldn’t use the income God has blessed you with, to perpetrate acts that deny your faith and advance the kingdom of darkness. That is betrayal not business.
