Mercy

mercy

Show me mercy.
When words fail me.
When eloquent thoughts fall short.
When I know not how to pray.

If I ask for nothing else,
I ask for grace and kindness;
a demonstration of my Father’s love;
an illustration of his protectiveness and care.

You’ve left me for too long,
or maybe I was the one who left you,
But I’ve been back for a while now.
And I am lost & afraid.

Can we continue from where we left off;
those days of optimism and promise
when I had dreams and goals;
when I looked forward to each day?

Show me mercy.
That’s all I need.
Not material things.
Just mercy.
